I was first published by my college newspaper, The Muse, writing humor. During a 10 year career as library assistant for Memorial University, QE II Library I wrote book reviews for Library Journal, a very well-respected US source that major authors vie for review in. My job involved the technical processing of 7,500 magazine subscriptions and I proofread over 500 theses for National Library of Canada. The constant demand for my writing skill whenever the library needed it, convinced me to seek a career as a writer.
I took Langara College's Marketing and Sales diploma program in 97-98 and began accepting clients for copywriting before I was even finished. My years as a failed songwriter and exposure to thousands of magazines on a daily basis morphed into outstanding skills for copywriting. I read, and still read everything I can find on the craft and have built a body of work and a reputation for being better than anyone faster, and faster that anyone better in my area.
Along my life path I have hitch-hiked across Canada, worked on an off-shore oil rig on top of the 300 foot derrick 200 miles from shore, somehow wound up on near the North Pole and only sobered to the fact when I saw where Ellesmere Island was on a globe and then got dizzy that I was on the very tip of the planet. Vancouver's natural beauty hooked me right away when I bolted from the windswept frozen Arctic on Paddy's Day and saw people walking on sandy beaches in shorts. You can find me at one time or another most Saturdays at the Vancouver Public Library, carting home books on writing technique. It’s my life.
